NVH Foam Systems

Prototype and production PU foam NVH solutions

Rojac offer both prototype and production NVH solutions, we have worked with major Automotive OEM's and 1st Tier suppliers to help develop complex PU NVH mouldings.

NVH is becoming more and more important especially for electric vehicles.

As Electric vehicles dont have the internal combustion engine found in traditional cars this presents brand new challenges from different sources of NVH. In traditional vehicles, the engine masks the typically noisy and undesirable behaviours of the car, whilst the quiet motor of an electric vehicle means every single sound or vibration is now more audible.

HR flexible foams are moulded or milled for prototypes, moulded foams can be prototype or production and are produced for NVH solutions in a range of hardnesses and densities.

Hardness range - 4 – 40 kPa
Density range - 50 – 125 KgM3
Flammability and Tests include;
FMVSS302
JLR standard STJLR.51.5142
CAL 117

What is NVH?

The three parts of "NVH" cover a range of sound indicators.

How it is heard, how it is felt, and whether it is pleasant or annoying.

Noise: the sound propagation caused by a specific object, such as the hum of an opening sunroof, an engine, a door being slammed, an HVAC system, or seat belt buckle clicks.

Vibration: the oscillations that occur at certain frequencies. In a car, vibrations can be felt at different speeds through the steering wheel, seat, armrests, floor, and pedals etc..

Harshness: the subjective quality associated with both noise and vibration. While both noise and vibration are quantifiable measurements, harshness deals with discomfort of hearing unpleasant sounds. What is harsh to one person may not necessarly be harsh to another.
